I came across this issue while trying to install load fuse kernel module.

In case you have the following message during modprobe (assuming you are running Rocks Clusters 4.2.1 and had installed fuse-2.6.3-0.src.rpm),

FATAL: Error inserting fuse (/lib/modules/2.6.9-42.ELsmp/kernel/fs/fuse/fuse.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

and dmesg has following message,

fuse: Unknown symbol mutex_destroy

Then most likely you'll need the following patch and place it in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES as well as spec file and place it in /usr/src/redhat/SPECS . Then rebuild the RPM and install again (you may need to use --force option):

rpmbuild -bb /usr/src/redhat/SPECS/fuse.spec
rpm -Uvh --force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/<ARCH>/fuse-{,kernel-,libs-,devel-}2.6.3-0.<ARCH>.rpm
This should solve the problem and allow you to get modprobe loading the fuse kernel module.
